Captains Log
A great couple of weeks at the club. The club champs are under-way with a good number of our members participating.

The Te Awamutu Open was a big success with 108 starters on a glorious winter day.  It was pleasing to see visitors from around ten clubs from around the region playing in our tournament.

As you know we are trialling a new course layout.  This will take place from July 1st – July 18th. It is great to hear good feedback with some excitement around this from our members.
The temporary layout will be loaded onto the computer as a new tee option. There will be signage and information for players so as to avoid confusion. The new layout will be as follows;
Holes.

The committee is also looking at implementing some changes to our competition program.
With the clubs strategic plan looking to grow the club into a progressive, fun, vibrant  club of
choice, we felt that we need to look at our program to see where changes might appeal.

Eg. Our program of scrambles has been around for ever, and has become fairly ‘hohum’ and unexciting. Scrambles are run nearly everyday, and club-days have lost their relevance and excitement, which is reflected in
the number of members participating.

We need to rethink all our competitions:- many of the cups played for have lost relevance with players unsure what they are playing for, and modern times suggesting that long drawn out competitions are no longer a
good option. We will plan to change the competition for many of the cups and make the monthly club day new and exciting. We can have a cup/trophy for each monthly club-day; make each club day a different competition to add fun and encourage participation from all members.

There is also a proposal to add more match-play competition to our program.
We will look at introducing some changes from November. (After Morpeth Vase competition in October.)
Your suggestions are welcome, so if you have any queries or comments please contact me anytime.
